Aleenta Hotel

33 Moo 5, Takua Thung, Khok Kloi, Phang Nga, Phuket

Set on an isolated sweep of Natai beach, with powdery soft sand stretching out on its doorstep, from end to end, is the Aleenta. The design is stunning – both the interiors and architecturally. There are a number of different accommodation options, from one-bedroom suites through to three-bedroom villas. The latter allows multiple occupancy with a communal living room, garden and pool, which is great for families and groups of friends. Our pick are the two-storey ocean view lofts – akin to living in a Hockney painting, with wow-inducing floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook an infinity pool and flood suites with light. Facing westwards, they give picture-perfect sunsets over the Andaman Sea. It’s unrivalled bliss.

Of Aleenta’s two restaurants, Edge is appropriately edgy, using local ingredients and novel flavour and texture pairings. Expect the likes of halibut with a crunchy tum lung topping, grilled leek and a smear of black olive; followed by tender duck breasts marinated in a Mexican-inspired mole, supported by fried onion, liquefied avocado and sweet potato.

The fresh Ayurah Wellness Centre offers Thai massages and facial elixirs. Further afield, there’s a turtle sanctuary, where injured turtles are treated and returned to the sea. There’s also an artificial reef immediately off the hotel’s shore, where some of the hatchlings are repopulating. And if you have hatchlings of your own, the hotel recently launched a kids’ club staffed by carers to look after your young ones. GR. Suites from £190.
